National Parks And
Public Lands in Alaska & Yukon

Alaska has more public lands than any other state. Some offer relatively easy access while others are extremely remote. Most that are not accessible by road may be reached by air taxi from major communities.   National and State Public Lands in Alaska include:

11 National Parks & Preserves
2 National Forests,
4 National Monuments
50 designated Wilderness Areas,
Several Wild & Scenic River Systems
Over 3 million acres of State Park lands.

Public lands in Alaska range from scenic roadside campgrounds and picnic areas, to remote wilderness refuges. The variety of recreational and sightseeing opportunities are endless for those wanting to experience what these national treasures have to offer. With 300 million acres of public lands, more than half of all parklands in the United States are found in Alaska.  They are managed by a patchwork of several federal and state agencies.

Below are links where you can find information and plan  your visit to any of  the public lands in Alaska or Yukon.  Contact the agency for information about specific fees, wilderness permits, campgrounds, public use cabins, fishing permits, topographical maps, trails, weather, and much more.
