Alaska's State Parks

Birch Lake State Recreation Site

Between Fairbanks and Delta, a small, new site with a lakeside beach.

Chena River State Recreation Site within the city of Fairbanks.

Chena River State Recreation Area A quarter million acre park offering miles of trails, campgrounds, and entry/exit points to Chena River, all in the heart of Alaska. Access 15 miles from Fairbanks.

Delta Junction Area State Parks Six parks near the town of Delta Junction - one historical park, three state recreation sites and two state recreation areas, including Quartz Lake State Recreation Area.

Harding Lake State Recreation Area Areas for such activities as baseball and volleyball, as well as lake access for a variety of water sports.

North of Fairbanks The Upper Chatanika State Recreation Site at the Steese Highway junction with the Chatanika River.

Salcha River State Recreation Site Offers access to the Salcha River and great fishing.

Tok Area Parks Three parks offering a variety of recreation opportunities.

With 300 million acres of public lands, more than half of all public lands in the United States are found in Alaska. They are managed by a patchwork of several federal and state agencies.

Alaska has more public lands than any other state. Some offer relatively easy access while others are extremely remote. Many of those that are not accessible by road may be reached by air taxi from Fairbanks.
